º£½ÇÒùĸÂÒÂ× East track and field delivered an outstanding performance at the New York State High School Indoor Track and Field State Championships, held on March 8 at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, New York. The team showcased their talent with multiple podium finishes and All-State honors.
Leading the way was Gianna Mauri, who claimed victory in the girl’s 1500-meter race walk with a stellar time of 6:50.96, securing the state title.
Adding to the success, senior Julianna Wottawa finished third in the 1500-meter race walk for both the Public School and Federation championships, demonstrating her strength and consistency in the event.
º£½ÇÒùĸÂÒÂ× East’s 4x400-meter relay team, consisting of Bella Galeas, Camryn Goodman, Aaliyah Hollis, Alexa Nieves and Sarafina Scavo, put forth an impressive effort, earning fifth place in both Division 1 and Federation competitions.
Sophomore Bella Galeas also made a mark individually, securing eighth place in the long jump, a commendable achievement against top-tier competition.
All seven athletes earned All-State honors, reflecting the dedication and hard work of º£½ÇÒùĸÂÒÂ× East’s track and field program. Their performance at the state championship highlights the depth of talent within the team and sets the stage for continued success in the future.
